Honda Expands Takata Airbag Recall to Additional Vehicles

 

When it comes to safety, Honda doesn't play around.

On Friday, the automaker announced another round of recalls for the Takata airbag replacement initiative. This round is ahead of schedule, and puts Honda one step closer to reaching a full 100% repair rate for this issue.

Airbag Recall Information

Automotive News reported on Friday that recalls are expected to peak at around 65 -70 million airbag units by December of next year. The next round of recalls wasn't expected to start until December or January, but Honda is getting a jump on things.

Thanks to a big push for securing contracts with suppliers, and getting replacements parts in-stock or ready to ship, Honda--which has reportedly already completed repairs on 78% of vehicles according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data--is ready to serve its customers early.
