While many automakers have been churning out hybrids in rapid fire over the past few years, Honda has remained in the shadows of the green technology forum. But that doesn't mean the automaker will stay there forever. In fact, Honda has been quietly working on a whole slew of new highly efficient vehicle platforms. And when the Big H does choose to reveal these technologies to the public, Honda of Concord has a feeling many a jaw will drop in awe.

Dubbed "Earth Dreams Technology," the automaker's forthcoming tech-lineup includes engines and powertrain parts that will be kind to the environment while providing enjoyable drive. More specifically Honda has new petrol and diesel engines, a CVT gearbox, "two-motor" hybrid systems, electric SH-AWD, and a new electric drivetrain up its sleeve.

With these powerful green tools under its belt, Honda plans to aim high. What exactly does Honda of Concord mean by that? According to company officials, the automaker plans to be the fuel efficiency leader in every automotive class by 2015. To accomplish such a feat, Honda will use its Earth Dreams Technology suite to lower the carbon dioxide emissions of every new Honda model by 30 percent.

Some would say that Honda is shooting for a target that will never be reached. Honda of Concord says the ambitious automaker is merely daring to think big.
