2012 Honda Pilot Purchase Review..

Mr. Watkins,

I have bought 10 cars in my lifetime. Without question our 2012 Pilot purchase from your dealership this past Friday, was the best buying experience we have had by far. My wife and I agree that Gerard Apadula made it so. Gerard was quite responsive to my email requests for specific information. That led us to set up a visit to Honda of Concord to see the vehicle and determine if we could make a deal. Throughout the transaction Gerard was professional, respectful, knowledgeable, and courteous - to both of us. He kept us informed throughout the transaction, step by step. The first price quoted us was fair and the trade-in we transacted was also quoted, fairly. I had done a reasonable level of homework, and it is possible that we could have made a "better deal" elsewhere and perhaps a better deal with Honda of Concord. However, the overall professionalism and straight forward approach Gerard demonstrated to us made both of those actions undesirable. The overall process was efficient and when a couple of issues arose, Gerard handled them flawlessly, offering apologies and placing no blame. Impressive. Bottom line on our purchase: Gerard made it happen, it was a very pleasant experience. We have already spoken to 3 other couples about Gerard and Honda of Concord.

I would be remiss if I didn't also mention Tim. He was very courteous and knowledgeable, so much so that I purchased the extended warranty that I no intention of buying when I walked in - due in part to Tim not using high pressure sales tactics.

Your dealership and the people you have working for you all "showed well". I mentioned to Gerard a couple of times, you can tell the difference when you walk in to a Hendrick Honda dealership.

You are doing great things at Honda of Concord.

"Million Mile Joe's Surprise Parade"

Getting to a million miles isn't typical. But neither is Joe. See his remarkable story:Joe just reached one million miles in his 1990 Honda Accord! To celebrate this extraordinary feat, we surprised Joe with an over-the-top parade in his honor. Watch what happened. Way to go, Million Mile Joe!Driving a Honda for a million miles is an extraordinary feat. So how did Joe do it? For starters, he's read and followed his owner's manual and maintenance schedule to the letter. He's also a stickler for fluids, he checked them weekly, switched them seasonally (10W-30 in summer and 5W-30 in winter), and changed them every 5,000 miles. He's been loyal to the same brand of oil and never let it go below a quart low.You know how most people let their fuel go to almost empty? Joe never did. He's also a creature of habit, using only Honda air, oil and fuel filters. Joe never rode heavy on the brakes, and changed the fluid every few years. He's also replaced the fuel pump, both cooling fans and the radiator twice.Besides his fastidious maintenance, Joe's Accord made it to one million miles because he's loved it. He's treated it with respect and always drove it responsibly. In fact, Joe has only gotten one speeding ticket in a million miles-that must be some kind of record. When it comes to driving, Joe's the man.Check out Joe's story at http://www.MillionMileJoe.com

The salesmen that my wife and I dealt with were the best salespersonal that we have ever worked with. They were well informed about the cars giving us the most information about them. They were very friendly and were not pushy like some car salesmen we have dealt with in the past. I would recommend them and your dealership to anyone who ask me concerning buying a car. Sincerely, Jerry Hager

Yesterday, Honda hosted a surprise parade in Saco, Maine, to celebrate Joe LoCicero's amazing accomplishment of hitting one million miles on his 1990 Honda Accord. The parade interrupted a brief press conference where Joe was scheduled to receive an oversized key to a new 2012 Honda Accord from Ms. Maine, Ashley Marble.

The city of Saco was the venue for a one-block-long celebratory "Million Mile Joe" parade that featured:

  • giant odometer float powered by six people spinning life-sized hamster wheels;
  • airplane banner congratulating Joe;
  • Biddeford High School student-made floats;
  • Westbrook High School marching band and color guard;
  • Saco Middle School Marching Band;
  • Shoestring Theater stilt walkers; and
  • over-the-top costumed characters.

While the typical driver clocks about 14,000 miles per year, Joe does that in about three months. Joe's 1990 Honda Accord has taken him one million miles over the past 15 years, a feat that speaks to the reliability of his Honda as well as the dedication of its driver to reach this unique milestone. As Joe approached the one-million-mile mark, Honda fans have been following his journey on www.millionmilejoe.com.

Joe's million-mile journey is a showcase for the reliability of Honda automobiles, a quality that has been a part of the automaker's DNA for over 50 years. Joe's model, the Accord, continues to lead industry reliability rankings and recently was named Best Resale Value in its class by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. Additionally, the Accord has been named to the prestigious Car and Driver 10Best list a record 25 times.

"Joe's journey is a testament to his Honda's reliability and how people have come to count on Honda for more than 50 years to get them to where they need to go," said Tom Peyton, Honda brand manager for American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Honda wanted to tell Joe's story because of his astonishing driving habits and detailed record keeping. Joe drives an average of 62,500 miles a year and began keeping detailed records at around 300,000 miles. Joe has taken more than 661 photos of his odometer.
